I haven't had the change to read the graphic novels, sadly, so I can't say if the pacing is better there. Though I think Hobb's beautiful prose compensates for the slower pacing so if prose is something you care about I think the books are worth giving it a try, I think a lot of the depth of Hobb's writing may get lost when translated to a visual medium
